Storm damage replacement with an upgraded water barrier
After Hurricanes Helene and Milton damaged this roof, we documented the storm damage and walked the homeowner through the replacement scope. We installed Owens Corning Duration shingles in Harbor Blue and upgraded the underlayment to a peel and stick ice and water membrane, adding a secondary water barrier beneath the shingles.

Clean panel lines, coordinated ridge and hip trim and neatly defined valleys complement this home’s intersecting roof sections. A detailed proposal with photos and a material breakdown helped the homeowner understand the work before choosing us.
Permits and inspections
How a re-roof is permitted in New Port Richey
Tile roofing requires engineering approval if being placed on a structure that didn’t previously have tile.
Pasco County Building Construction Services, Residential Roofing Permit submittal requirements
Pasco County publishes its own Re-Roof Guidelines and requires a Roofing Compliance Affidavit with the application. Permits stay valid for six months from issue or from the last passed inspection, whichever is later.
Worth knowing locally: the Land O’ Lakes central permitting office moved to appointment only on 3 March 2026, so walk-in business goes to the Citizens Center here in New Port Richey or to Dade City.

Local roofing conditions
Common Roofing Problems in New Port Richey
New Port Richey homes sit close to the coast, and that is what decides how a roof here ages.
1
Wind takes the shingles first
Asphalt shingle roofs tend to fail first here, because of the high winds that come with being on the coast. Older three tab shingles are the most exposed of all.
2
Architectural shingles hold a higher wind rating
If you are staying with asphalt, we recommend an architectural shingle such as the Owens Corning Duration series, which carries a higher wind rating than a traditional three tab.
3
Standing seam metal for the most exposed roofs
Upgrading to a standing seam metal roof gives the most protection from the elements. That is what we fitted on the 34653 job above.

What New Port Richey customers said
★★★★★
“I reached out to seven companies for a roof replacement estimate, and six showed up, with five providing actual quotes. While most competitors offered simple, one or two-page bids, Better Roofing & Restoration stood out with a comprehensive, professional, and detailed proposal that included photos and a breakdown of materials. Although they weren’t the cheapest, they were clearly the most professional and at a decent price point. I had them handle my roof and gutters, and I am extremely satisfied with their high-quality work”

The City of New Port Richey issues permits for addresses inside the city limits. Outside them, the permit comes from Pasco County Building Construction Services. We pull it either way, so it is not something you have to work out.
